InvisaGig Version 2.0...UPDATES?

InvisaGig Version 2.0

Any updates on when these will start to ship out? Can we have any information on hardware changes?

Hello!

Details are coming! Sorry for the delay.

We’ve been filming some content, working on details, and getting carrier certs completed. Taking WAY longer than we hoped, but we decided to shut down V1 so that we can start delivering better hardware meant for the new modems, before new modems are being FCC certified for any of us to use in products.

Thanks for the update. Can I ask, any sneak peak of the improvements over V1? Do you still intend to keep the $599 price on the V2?

Same price, no increase.

hmmmm…

V2 is all about hardware updates… Beefier electronics including upgraded power circuitry, RF shielding on all major circuitry, Dual nano SIM, USB-C power input (12VDC-40VDC), remote 2ft+ desktop antenna kit, improved cooling design (same Noctua fans  ), LED OFF/ON switch, 2 Less LEDs, newer slightly improved paddle antennas, certified etc etc yadda yadda.

We will also be working on a fully US made unit, as a special run SKU (minus the actual modem chips, as they aren’t made in the US by any company so far)

Can I ask, will the V2 have the current x62 modem or will it ship with something like the x65 or x75?

It will be x62.

We made a promise that we would fully certify the x62 InvisaGig, so that all customers past and future would benefit from the effort. We will be sending out emails for current customers to receive their official InvisaGig new IMEI assignments.

The x65 chips and above have yet to have a mass adopted chipset from any major maker that is FCC certified, or that doesn’t double the price, nearly, and so we continue developing the core while we await either an FCC approved new gen modem chip OR we decide to run something like a crowdfund to pay the few million to FCC and PTCRB cert a chip ourselves.

Any news on the 2.0? Will it be substantially different than the 1.2 currently shipping?

Hey @CubedRoot!

TLDR: We have no news to divulge right now, but we are working on it. I wish we had more cool news on it.

The biggest update overall will be the modem gen of course. We are always keeping an eye on full FCC and PTCRB certified modules, and so far nothing x75 that is open for general use is certified. BUT x85 is on the horizon so we are keeping options open there too.

The last year has been so slow with any new actual actionable stuff coming through, and our release timeline has suffered for it.

The v1.2 hardware was supposed to be for the new modems, but we decided to not wait for the new modems and go ahead and release it for the current gen.

That said we are still updating the design of the 1.2 board, and should have some new cool things added. Feedback and ideas are always welcome for v2.0!
