Invisagig 5G fan never comes on

I bought this invisagig 5G used and I have been using it for about a month, but the cooling fan has never come on, that I have seen.

Home Internet
Router: Netgear X6 R8000

  1. what temperature is the fan set to engage?
  2. is there a way to adjust engagement temperature
  3. what’s the low end of “danger zone” for high temperature
When I setup the unit I observed it as high as 69° and the fan never came on.

Hello,

Typically the modem internal temp should reach around 65-75C before it kicks on. It’s safe to run up to around 80C but shouldn’t really sustain above ~75C. The modems internal triggers don’t go off until 90C. Operating around 65-70C is totally fine.

Make sure nothing is loose inside. You should be able to see the temperature sensor through the Noctua Fan, attached to the heatsink.

The sensor is a mechanical sensor, no adjustment.

You can safely test by running speed tests constantly (as long as you don’t mind the data use) until the modem reaches close to 80C. Once near that, and it hasn’t yet gone off, it may need to be tested and fixed.

Also, welcome to the InvisaGig family!

Thx for your responses. I’ll keep an eye on it and if it gets up to 80° and doesn’t switch on, I may replace the thermo switch with a lower temp controller.

Sometimes the fan leads into the connector get crimped and pinch off, causing a disconnect of voltage. Re-crimping the connector is all it takes to fix in that case. Other times the switch may have locked up, failed.
